Middle School: Counselor's Corner

Counselor's Corner 9/9/10

September 09, 2010

The 2010-11 school year is off to a great start! We are excited because we have several new student faces at CMS this year. As we settle into the school routine, remember the activities offered to CMS students. For grades 7th and 8th there are athletics and for everyone there are activities including: Kids In Charge, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Technology Student Association.

Middle School is operating a little differently this year due to budget cuts and personnel sharing. Mr. Murdock, Mrs. Kinderknecht, Mr. Ross and Ms. Shively are all spending some time at the high school this year. Mr. Murdock is teaching American History, Mrs. Kinderknecht is teaching Applied Math, Mr. Ross is serving as an assistant principal, and Ms. Shively is helping out with the Career Center. Mr. Rasmussen, Mrs. Bienhoff, and Mrs. Wagoner all come to the middle school to teach elective classes.  Mrs. Starbuck is teaching one middle school art class.

Another change for middle level is elective classes. Many classes are mixed 6th, 7th, and 8th grade this year. This change was necessary as we do not have as many teachers as we had last year.

Students are taking the STAR Reading and Math tests to screen for any academic deficiencies this week and next week.
