Basketball Tournament- Jan. 19, 20 and 21
The Colby girls fell to Palmer Ridge in second round action. They will place for 3rd place today against Holcomb at 4:00 at the high school. The boys lost to Holcomb in second round action and will play Hugoton today at noon in the Community Building.
Colby Public Schools will be hosting the 27th Annual Paul Wintz/Tom Bowen Orange & Black Classic Basketball Tournament. The tournament dates are January 19, 20 and 21st. The tournament will run games at two sites: the Colby Community Building and at the High School gym. Action will start at 3:00 p.m. (CST) in both gyms on Thursday, Jan. 19.
As part of the action, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) is sponsoring speaker, Mitch Thompson, who will give a presentation at the Colby Community Building at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21st free of charge. Mitch Thompson is a native of Goodland, Kansas and graduated from Fort Hays State University. He is currently on staff at Baylor University as the Assistant Head Baseball Coach. He has helped coach nine teams to 40-win seasons and has helped lead three teams to the College World Series and participated in 15 NCAA Regional tournaments. In November 2006, he was named National Assistant Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Baseball America. Please show your support and attend this presentation by a local alumni!
Prices for the tournament are as follows:
Tournament pass: Adults- $18 Students (K-12)- $12
Daily passes: Adults- $7 Students (K-12) - $5
No League passes will be accepted for this tournament.

Girls: Blue Valley NW, Colby, Holcomb, Hugoton, Liberal, McCook, Palmer Ridge and Scott City.
Boys: Colby, Holcomb, Hugoton, Liberal, McCook, Palmer Ridge, Scott City and Wichita South.
