PARENT ASSISTANCE FOR EVERYDAY MATH

You can find answers for your math questions here!

Everyday Math is the program we use at Colby Grade School for students in Kindergarten through the 6th grade. This program works on a spiraling sequence, which means skills are constantly reviewed and used again.  This gives the student multiple opportunities to learn and master the specific skills.  Other strengths of this program are its focus on real world skills (math in the everyday world) and its use of manipulatives and hands-on work to learn math concepts.  The program also shows alternative methods for basic operations and other things.  Some of these techniques may be new to you as a parents so we have developed some videos and linked some resources below to assist you as your help your child with their math skills.  As always, you are welcome to contact your child's teacher if you still need help with a particular concept and didn't find what you need here.

This link will take you to the Parent section of the Everyday Mathematics website.  You will find many resources to help you.

You will find videos below on how to work some of the algorithms we have found to be the most troublesome for parents and students.  Thank you to Mr. Myers for developing the videos.
