Support Services Summer Work
by Pam Rundel and Pam Boller
August 31, 2010
Pam Rundel and Pam Boller had fun implementing a Multiple Intelligence curriculum this summer during the extended school year program. The object of the extended school year program is to reinforce skills acquired during the school year. The students made puppets to participate in a story, wrote their names with different types of grain, classified dinosaurs by color, type and what they ate, figured out how many students could fit into a dinosaur print, played baseball addition and sang about different concepts the students were learning. Pam Boller took the curriculum and developed a power point explaining both Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligences and Dr. Roger Taylor’s teachings on the subject. Along with the research, she took pictures of the children and presented the power point to a group of teachers in Katmandu, Nepal.
Pam Rundel also had the opportunity to write for Master Teacher. The article in publication now is on Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder. This diagnosis can affect a child’s ability to be educated in the general curriculum and often requires adaptations of that curriculum in many instances. The next article Pam is working on is Conduct Disorder. This should be completed in the next week or two with publication to follow.
