Girls State Track Team Honored
Coach Wagoner is pleased to announce that last year's girls track team was honored by the Kansas Cross Country/Track and & Field Coaches Association. She recently received a certificate in recognition of the Outstanding Colby High School Girls Track & Field Team Performance in 2010. The girls placed in the top 10 at the state track meet as a team last season. Congratulations to Coach Wagoner and her team and we look forward to more good results in the spring! The Colby High School Girls Track Team had a great showing at the state meet in Wichita, placing 6th as a team in Class 4A. Alexa H. was the State Champion in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.69 and placed 7th in the 200 m with a time of 26.66. The 4x400 m. relay of Alexa H., Kayla H., Katrina K. and Emilea F. received 2nd place with a time of 4:07.86. Emilea F. placed 3rd in the 800 m. with a time of 2:18.95 and 4th in the 1600 m with a time of 5:15.93 time. Morgan Bell added to the point total with a tie for 7th place in the High Jump with a leap of 5’.
On the boys side, Beau B. placed 7th in the 100 m. dash with a time of 11.20.
These performances at state put some of these students on the Colby High School record board, located in the high school gym. Alexa H. will move to 3rd in the 400 m on the board. Emilea F. was already on the record board in the 800 m. and the 1600 m. but recorded faster times at state. The 4x400 relay team will move to 5th place on the record board with a 4:03.48 time that they posted in the prelims at the state tournament.
