The tune of sweet, melodic wedding bells was still racing through the mind of Kacie Goetz until she received the news that a position at Colby High School was now her new job. Goetz has been hired as the career center secretary and registrar. She also coaches c-team volleyball.
“I was excited to receive this job, “ Goetz said. “I wanted to help children succeed, not only academically, but sportswise as well.”
Working in an office is a nice environment for Goetz because she likes being around people and getting to know the students. The news of a new job this summer was only part of her excitement, though; two and a half weeks prior to her new job, Goetz had been wed to her fiancé, Nate.
After being engaged for close to a year, it was a joyful day for Goetz when she was married July 19.
“I was overwhelmed, excited, and happy all on my wedding day,” Goetz said.
Goetz has moved back to Colby with Nate after attending college here at Colby Community College and then at Kansas State University. Having grown up in Leoti, Colby wasn’t much change for Goetz when she came back to the area, and both Nate and she liked the area when they attended college here.
Moving back to Colby wasn’t as big of a change as moving from Colby to Manhattan for college. It was nice for Goetz to move back to a smaller, more familiar atmosphere.
“I lived in the country [in Leoti] where it was quiet and peaceful, except for hunting season,” Goetz said.
Although Goetz has never traveled abroad, she has come close by traveling to Hawaii, and recently Alaska. Goetz and her husband took a trip to Alaska for their honeymoon earlier this month.
“Alaska was amazing!” Goetz said. “The scenery was calming and peaceful, and I got to see new wildlife like killer and humpback whales, as well as bald eagles. It was also good just to get away for awhile.”
Goetz believes that her parents and God are her biggest role models because they helped her become the person that she is today. She also thinks her greatest accomplishments are finishing college and being able to help others in a coaching aspect and life in general. A role as an astronaut would never be Goetz’s calling though, she prefers to have her feet on solid ground.
After the thrill and enjoyment of her wedding this summer, Goetz is just as excited to have received a job at CHS where she’ll be able to see and help the students.
