Important Assessment Information

Testing will begin in February and end in May this year at CMS. To satisfy state mandates, students in sixth grade will take the Kansas State Assessment of Reading, Math, and Social Studies. Seventh graders will take the Kansas State Assessment of Reading, Math, and Science. Eighth graders will take the Kansas State Assessment of Reading, Writing, Math, and Social Studies. These tests are taken on the computer with social studies, science, math, and writing components that are paper and pencil at various levels. All three grades will also take Measures of Academic Progress Tests (MAPS) in math, language usage, and reading.
It is important for students to come to school well rested and fed during the testing cycle. Students who do poorly on the Kansas State Assessments will be scheduled in additional math and reading classes for the next term whether they return to CMS or enter high school.
